Street Tag

Street Tag is a fun, free smartphone app that rewards you for moving. Users run, walk or cycle and collect virtual tags through the app, giving them Street Tag points and helping their team move up either the community or primary school leaderboard. It essentially turns Bedford Borough into a giant virtual playground!

This campaign is a public health project supported by Bedford Borough Council and aims to increase mental and physical health first and foremost; with a community and primary school leaderboard to join.

Street Tag launched in Bedford Borough in July 2023 and by the end of 2023, users had taken 13 million steps with over 170 active community teams and 14 primary schools signed up to the campaign.

- When playing Street Tag, you scan virtual tags with your smartphone while you are out and about. Every point you get for a tag adds to your leaderboard score! The app can run in the background, so it automatically collects tags in a 40-metre radius allowing you to focus on your journey and not your phone.

- Tags are worth an average 50 points. Once users are near/within a 40-meter radius of a tag, the player receives the points which helps the School to move up the leaderboard.

- In the community leaderboard you can join or make a team of up to 6 players whilst in the school leaderboard you may have up to 250 participants represent the school team. The app will take you through this process

- Tags can be found on the route to school, in local parks, at local events and more or less anywhere and everywhere across Bedford Borough making it really easy to join in the fun!

There are amazon vouchers on offer for our community players of value of up to £150 for the 1st placed team to £35 for the 20th placed team each season!

For our schools and their PTA's, a whopping £200 is on offer for each season for the first placed school and £50 for fifth place each season!

In addition to the prizes for high finishers, we are also doing seasonal prize drawers where we will be selecting one Street Tagger at random from each leaderboard to receive a £50 prize!

Community

Currently, we are in an intermission period and will commence season 4 of Street Tag on the 16th September running until the 19th November. Get some good practice in preparation for more prizes and fun to come!
