Reducing Inequalities in Access to Sport and Physical Activity
Our work, as one of the 43 Active Partnerships in England, is focused on reducing inequalities in access to sport and physical activity throughout Bedfordshire and Luton. We do this by engaging with community groups and clubs, local authorities, agencies and charities, and community representatives, with the aim to increase activity, reduce inequalities and improve the experiences of children and young people while being active and doing sport. Physical activity, as well as improving physical and mental health, can also have the benefit of reducing isolation and loneliness, providing positive activities and creating support networks.
While reducing inequalities and increasingly the levels of physical activity in Bedfordshire and Luton run as a core aim throughout all we do, our work can be broken down into six main areas.
-
Supporting every child and young person in Bedfordshire to be physically active inside and outside of school
-
Helping to create and protect the places and spaces that make it easier for people to be physically active
-
Ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be active to help stay mentally and physically healthy
-
Our place-based approach to tackling inequalities and reducing inactivity across Bedfordshire
-
Supporting the personal and professional development and training of our local community and workforce
-
Data and Insight support for our partners
