Taking Responsibility for Changes we can Make
The scientific evidence behind climate change is compelling, and we are regularly seeing ways in which these changes to climate are impacting on societies ability to participate in sport and physical activity. As the world continues to warm and affect our climate and weather patterns, the impacts will only get worse.
We want to be part of the work that is undertaken to support and promote the urgent change that's needed by being an environmentally responsible organisation and working with all our partners, big and small, to show how to drive climate awareness and action across Bedfordshire.
We have developed our own plan of action. This looks at what we can do internally to make ourselves more environmentally sustainable. Alongside this, we are committed to proactively working with partners to support the sport and physical activity community to become more environmentally sustainable.
Our internal work has commenced with education and training around improving carbon literacy and what is causing the world's atmosphere to warm. We have recently completed an exercise to measure our carbon footprint as a team. A report of our findings; the assumptions we have used, challenges faced, and opportunities to do things better will be published early in 2025.

Graham Simpson
Senior Relationship Manager - Active Environments
I joined the team in May 2007 having made a decision to change careers. Previously I worked for 24 years in a major worldwide bank. Much of that time was spent working in commercial banking with small and medium sized businesses.
I moved to Bedfordshire at the age of 18 and have spent 25 of the last 30 years living and working in the area where sport has played a big role in my life.
